Two chiral tetradecanuclear hydroxo-lanthanide clusters with luminescent and magnetic properties

Abstract

Two chiral tetradecanuclear hydroxo-lanthanide clusters of composition Ln144-OH)23-OH)16(µ-η2-acac)82-acac)16·6H2O, where Ln = Dy 1, Tb 2 and acac = acetylacetonato, have been prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallographic, magnetic and spectroscopic methods. They crystallize in chiral monoclinic space group C2, which is exceptionally rare in hydroxo-lanthanide clusters, and present luminescent and magnetic properties.
