Influence of physico-chemical parameters on rheological properties of concentrated reverse emulsions

Abstract

Highly concentrated reverse emulsions have been used to study the effect of temperature in the viscoelastic linear region using rheological measurements. Concentrated emulsions have been formulated from many fluorinated surfactants with different hydrophobicity. We have shown that the linear domain decreased with temperature and was more reduced when the hydrophobicity of the surfactant decreased. The experimental results are finally correlated with the phase inversion temperature (PIT) of the studied systems and with the hydrophilic lipophilic balance (HLB) of the surfactants.
