Addition of the [(tBuP)3As] anion to the cyclopentadienyl ring of [(C5H5)M(CO)3Cl] (M = Mo, W)

Abstract

Reactions of the [(tBuP)3As] anion with [(C5H5)M(CO)3Cl] (M = Mo, W) gives [(C5H4{As(PtBu)3})M(CO)3Cl] (M = Mo 1; M = W 2) as a result of addition to the C5H5 ring (with formal elimination of LiH), rather than the expected product resulting from substitution of the metal-bonded Cl ligand.
