Enriched nucleation sites for Pt deposition on ultrathin WO3 nanosheets with unique interactions for methanol oxidation

Abstract

Proper design of support materials is an important approach to improve the utilization efficiency and regulate the electronic properties of Pt electrocatalysts. Herein, we have successfully prepared ultrathin WO3 nanosheets by Ar plasma exfoliation as a support to anchor Pt nanoparticles. Owing to the unique structure, both electronic and physical interactions between Pt and WO3 nanosheets are significantly modulated, resulting in enhanced electrocatalytic activity for methanol oxidation.
