Hormonal Control of the Metabolism of Cholesterol in the Rabbit Fœtus

Abstract

EXPERIMENTAL work on the rabbit and rat fœtus by Jost1 and Hwang and Wells2 has firmly established that the fœtal pituitary thyroid system is functionally interrelated before birth, and that the function of the fœtal thyroid is under the control of the fœtal pituitary. In addition Geloso3 has demonstrated the presence ofthyroid hormones in the fœtal rat.
