Abstract
IN my former paper (Nature, Aug. 28, 1890) the main conclusions were based to a great extent upon the results of mere eye observations, often of a very uncertain and puzzling kind. The data so obtained were unfortunately not those required for a direct investigation, so that my processes were necessarily of a tentative character.
