Abstract
TAYLOR and his co-workers have shown that myosin, when mixed with its substrate ATP, rapidly forms a stoichiometric complex in which the terminal phosphate bond of the ATP is already broken1; this complex is relatively stable and lasts for nearly all of the time between successive ATP hydrolyses2. The aim of the present work was to find out whether such a complex is formed in relaxed muscle.
