Buoyancy and Stable Levitation of a Magnetic Body immersed in a Magnetizable Fluid

Abstract

THIS communication concerns the nature of some peculiar forces experienced by a body immersed in magnetic fluid when the body is a source of magnetic field. Prediction and experimental demonstration are given of the stable ‘fluidmagnetic’ levitation of a permanent magnet at an interior region of the fluid.
