Blood Velocity telemetered from Untethered Animals

Abstract

THE magnitude of the change in frequency of sound back-scattered in moving blood is a measure of the velocity of the blood1,2. We have used this principle to design a system for telemetry of blood flow information from the major vessels of healthy, active, totally unrestrained animals.
