Kindspezifische Prozessqualität

Bedingungen und Effekte sprachlicher und mathematischer Anregungen in Kindertageseinrichtungen

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1026/2191-9186/a000483

Child-Specific Process Quality: Dependency and Effects of Language and Math Interactions in Preschools

Abstract. Educational processes, as central characteristics of childcare quality, are associated with the development of a child's abilities, such as language and math, and with structural characteristics. To date these educational processes are mainly assessed on the group level. Therefore, it remains unclear which quality is experienced by individual children in the group. This paper takes a child-specific view and investigates the level, dependency, and effects of these child-specific processes by using data from the study of educational processes, competence development, and selection decisions in preschool and school age (BiKS; n = 94 children). Results demonstrate that child-specific processes range on a low to medium level with regard to language and math stimulation; that these processes are associated not only with classic structural characteristics but also with individual child characteristics; and that they tend to be related to math and language abilities shortly before school entry.
