Patientenschulung mit Kindern: Wie lassen sich subjektive Krankheits- und Behandlungskonzepte berücksichtigen?

Abstract

Zusammenfassung. Bei der Durchführung von Patientenschulungen für chronisch kranke Kinder sollten die individuellen Krankheitskonzepte der Schulungsteilnehmer einbezogen werden, damit die Informationsvermittlung dem kognitiven Entwicklungsstand der Kinder angepaßt werden kann. Verschiedene Ansätze befassen sich mit der Analyse kindlicher Krankheitskonzepte: Entsprechend dem strukturgenetischen und dem kognitionswissenschaftlichen Ansatz werden typische Charakteristika kindlicher Krankheitskonzepte vorgestellt. Der Einfluß langandauernder Krankheits- und Behandlungserfahrungen, wie sie bei chronischen Erkrankungen bestehen, wird diskutiert. Im Anschluß daran werden verschiedene Möglichkeiten aufgezeigt, kindliche Konzepte bei Patientenschulungen zu berücksichtigen. Dazu gehören die Erhebung und Analyse subjektiver Krankheits- und Behandlungskonzepte, die Modifikation unangemessener Krankheitsvorstellungen mit dem Ziel, die Compliance zu verbessern, die weitere Differenzierung der Konzepte sowie die Entwicklung kindgerechter Schulungsmaterialien.


Patient education with children: How to consider their individual illness and treatment concepts

Abstract. In patient education with chronic ill children the individual concepts of the participants should be included in order to supply information appropriate to the child's cognitive development. There are diverse theoretical perspectives, under which children's illness concepts can be analyzed: Corresponding to the theory of cognitive development and the cognitive science approach typical characteristics of children's illness concepts are presented. The effect of continual illness and treatment experiences going along with chronic illness is discussed. Subsequently various possibilities to consider children's concepts of illness in patient education programmes are pointed out. These include the assessment of individual illness and treatment concepts, the modification of inadequate concepts in order to improve compliance, the further improvement of concepts and the development of appropriate manuals for patient education.
