Track Length Distribution of 235U Fission Fragments in Lavsan Films

  • Published:
Atomic Energy Aims and scope

Abstract

The characteristics of lavsan-based track membranes produced using reactors are studied. The γ-ray distribution from 235U fission fragments in lavsan films is measured. The average range of 17 identified fission fragments is obtained. Electron microscopy is used to perform a layerwise analysis of the track lengths of the fragments. Statistical analysis with computer simulation is used to obtain the distribution function for the average track length over all fission products.
