Abstract

Abstract. A method evaluating the response correlations of a SDOF system subjected to the wind action, once that the first order statistics and the transition matrix of the system are known, is presented. The method does not require further integrations and allows to take into account the presence of the quadratic term of the velocity in the expression of the wind action. This fact makes the response a non-Gaussian process as it really is. The application of the method to some examples shows both the good accuracy of the results, if compared with those obtained by Monte Carlo simulations, and that neglecting the quadratic term may lead to relevant errors even for the correlations, as well as for the first order statistics.

Sommario.
