Abstract
Switzerland and Germany are countries with many similarities in terms of culture, economic development and education. This article compares their continuing education systems and how they have responded to national and international trends. The authors examine the extent of teaching and research in this field, as well as the economic, legal and organizational aspects of continuing education. Among other things, they consider why private providers of continuing education play a far greater role in Switzerland than in Germany.
