Abstract
The frequency dependence of conductivity and dielectric constant of glassy samples of (Na2B4O7)100-x(WO3)x′, where X=0, 1, 5, 15 and 30 mol % respectively, were measured in the temperature range 323–473 K. The a.c. conductivity σac (ω) is found to be proportional to ωS. The value of the exponent (S) decreases with the increase of WO3 concentration in these glasses. The conductivity increases with decreasing WO3 concentration. This is attributed to the large difference in size between the two ions (Na, W) which increases the stability and therefore decreases the conductivity. All the glassy samples under investigation showed the Debye-type dielectric dispersion characterized by a relaxation frequency (fo).
