2022, Journal of Molecular LiquidsCitation Excerpt :The greater the content of groups capable of hydrogen bonds formation, the greater the swelling. Jones et al. [13,14] have shown that the compositions of formulations containing HEC, polyvinylpyrrolidone and polycarbophil have impact on the adhesiveness and mucoadhesion. The authors emphasize that it is important to consider specifically the role of polycarbophil in the adhesiveness of the formulations, because this polymer strongly interacts with biological substrates.
