Summary
I conducted interviews with activists, government and military officials, politicians, policymakers, and academics between September 2005 and April 2010. The majority of interviews were conducted from 2005 to 2006 and in 2008. A number of activists and government officials interviewed agreed to follow-up interviews or engaged in an ongoing conversation about U.S. bases and anti-base opposition with myself and each other in more informal settings. Several interviewees chose not to be named. With a few exceptions, the list here represents those interviewees cited in the book. Those who are included in the list but not cited have been added to reflect my efforts to present a balanced view of base politics. Unless stated otherwise, affiliations are listed as current at the time of the interview.
Jose Almonte, former national security advisor. Manila, Philippines, March 21, 2006.
Edgardo Angara, former senator. Manila, Philippines, March 14, 2006.
