    However, a cesarean delivery rate of greater than 15% could be associated with poorer outcomes in maternal and child health [8–11]. Multiple trials have addressed the issue, but many of them examined the impact of high cesarean rates, and not the impact of lower-than-optimal rates [7,12–14]. These investigations showed that rates of cesarean delivery of more than 12%–15% are not associated with any maternal or fetal benefits and could even be associated with worse outcomes [7,12–14].
