    Biodegradable polymers were the first examined for applications as biomaterials [8]. Since this pioneering work, polymeric materials have been intensively investigated as candidates for biodegradable implants over the last several decades [9–15]. In spite of excellent biocompatibility and predictable degradation products, their insufficient strength may result in several problems, such as too-large implant size, inflammation, thrombosis, and delayed arterial healing [16–18].
