Recommendations for the Nonpharmacological Treatment of Apathy in Brain Disorders
2020, American Journal of Geriatric PsychiatryCitation Excerpt :Generic approaches to activities may fail to produce positive changes in many patients: the more the treatment is tailored to the person, the higher the probability that the treatment is effective.54 At a clinical level, “tailor-made” approaches are required, including designing specific meaningful activities depending on individuals’ interests, needs, abilities, and capacities,55 and in line with their perceived self and identity.56 Sensory preferences (e.g., what the person likes to touch, smell, eat, his or her favorite colors and music) of the person are also important aspects to consider.
