General anaesthesia has been successfully used in VHL for elective caesarean section,17 combined caesarean section with phaeochromocytoma resection18 and combined caesarean section with posterior fossa craniotomy.19,20 We chose to use a total intravenous anaesthetic with propofol, rather than a volatile agent, due to its theoretical advantageous effects on cerebral circulation and ICP.21
