Abstract

This paper presents an experimental, Arduino based, low-cost lightsaber to introduce students to microcontrollers. The main idea is that students can learn control, signal processing, electronics, and computer programming while having fun by constructing a replica of the famous weapon used in Star Wars movies. A summary of the instructions to develop the lightsaber used in engineering courses of the University of Seville is provided.
