    While a significant interaction between 5-HTTLPR and sleep quality was observed on positive effect, allelic variation in 5-HTTLPR was not found to modulate sleep-related changes in negative affect (Hartmann et al., 2014). The moderating influence of 5-HTTLPR on the relationship between sleep quality and positive affective changes appears to be a robust finding as a recent replication study reported similar associations (van Roekel et al., 2016). In summary, various studies investigated whether 5-HTTLPR moderates the relationship between sleep and affective symptomatology (Table 2).
