SARS-CoV-2 induction and COVID-19 manifestations related to autoimmune gastrointestinal diseases
2022, Autoimmunity, COVID-19, Post-COVID19 Syndrome and COVID-19 VaccinationCeliac disease in the COVID-19 pandemic
2021, Journal of Translational AutoimmunityCitation Excerpt :In Brazil, the program's implementation to increase awareness about GRDs among healthcare professionals and giving scientifically sound information to the general population about the risks and benefits of following a GFD were desirable actions [28]. CD is associated with many autoimmune, inflammatory, and behavioral conditions and is a frequent condition in polyautoimmunity syndrome [1,29,30]. A Sweden study linked CD to some other health problems, ranging from neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders to somatic complaints [31].
Autoimmunity in celiac disease: Extra-intestinal manifestations
2019, Autoimmunity ReviewsCitation Excerpt :It can be argued that shared genetics and environment are at the basis of the polyautoimmunity in CD patients or their family members [26]. More so, multiple screenings identified common genes shared between various ADs, supporting the autoimmune trait as part of the autoimmune tautology [23–27]. In a recent study, the following risk factors were identified for polyautoimmunity in CD patients: female gender, CD associated serology, family history of ADs, insufficient vitamin D levels, having high antinuclear antibody titer, and associate musculoskeletal conditions [28].
