The tolerance level of the ecosystem as a limited constrain in the development planning
2021, Ecological IndicatorsCitation Excerpt :Michaelis-Menten method (as a developed Liebig law) (FAO, 2011) as a method for nutrient limitation in the plant are modeled; Besides, according to compost and material discharged into the environment, the organic matter has been calculated(Hoel and Kverndokk, 1996), and the amount of the soil nutrient generation is modeled according to the organic matter (Alongi, 2014; Weinstein, 1983). Based on the Per FOREMAN model (Appendix B)(Hole, 1991; Saenger and Snedaker, 1993), the growth of natural resources (mangrove forest) and the effects of salty and Heavy metal material on the soil quality have been studied(Chowdhury and Maiti, 2016; Ellison and Forest, 2008; Tam and Wong, 1993) due to surrounding industries and inlet effluents, the changes in soil tolerance level are modeled affected by changes in the soil quality(Anderson and Christensen, 1988). To decide on the technology selection and the amount of material and energy production and consumption, there is a need for a goal function that might be within the framework of minimizing the effects of environmental pollution.
Do marine rooted plants grow in sediment or soil? A critical appraisal on definitions, methodology and communication
2015, Earth-Science ReviewsCitation Excerpt :Thus, the disastrous 2004 tsunami in Southeast Asia clearly showed that intact mangrove fringes along coastlines have the potential to save thousands of lives (e.g. Alongi, 2008; Osti et al., 2009; Zhang et al., 2012). The expanding and more diverse interest in vegetated coastal ecosystems has over the years involved a wide spectrum of scientific disciplines ranging from sediment biogeochemistry to coastal zone management (e.g. Ellison, 2008; Saint-Paul and Schneider, 2011). Many of the involved disciplines use their own, and in many cases different terms and approaches for examining the same phenomena, which can be confusing and in certain cases lead to serious misunderstandings.
