2020, Research in Developmental DisabilitiesCitation Excerpt :Goal attainment scaling (GAS) as a measurement technique is well-established in inter-disciplinary practice (Calder, Ward, Jones, Johnston, & Claessen, 2018) and has been advocated as good practice in developmental disability research (McDougall & Wright, 2009). GAS techniques have been used to measure outcomes of communication impairments associated with traumatic brain injury (Finch et al., 2019), in populations with intellectual disabilities (Bailey & Simeonsson, 1988) and cognitive rehabilitation settings (Rockwood, Joyce, & Stolee, 1997). In autism research, GAS been mainly used in the context of education and behavioural goals, e.g., Ruble, Dalrymple, and McGrew (2010); Oren and Ogletree (2000); Charney et al. (2017), Coffee and Ray-Subramanian (2009).
