Dcf1 deficiency induces hypomyelination by activating Wnt signaling
2021, Experimental NeurologyThe antitumor effect of TAT-DCF1 peptide in glioma cells
2018, NeuropeptidesCitation Excerpt :Moreover, patients suffer great pain during these treatments despite there being limited effectiveness, therefore, increased attention needs to be placed on the development of drugs with less side effects. DCF1, also known as transmembrane protein 59, is a membrane protein that has previously been found to play a role in the differentiation of the neural stem cells (Wang et al., 2008; Wen et al., 2002). Due to the lack of DCF1 crystal structure, only the characteristics of its protein structure can be predicted.
Degradation of alpha-synuclein by dendritic cell factor 1 delays neurodegeneration and extends lifespan in Drosophila
2018, Neurobiology of AgingCitation Excerpt :It also affects amyloid precursor protein shedding and Aβ generation in Alzheimer's disease (Ullrich et al., 2010). In a previous study, we showed that DCF1 was involved in neural stem cell differentiation (Wen et al., 2002), brain development, and dendritic spine formation (Liu et al., 2018). More recently, we showed dopamine system dysfunction in DCF1 gene knockout mice, (Liu et al., 2017) which suggested an association with PD.
Interaction of DCF1 with ATP1B1 induces impairment in astrocyte structural plasticity via the P38 signaling pathway
2018, Experimental NeurologyCitation Excerpt :However, currently, nothing is known about the influence of Dcf1 on astrocytes morphology in the central nervous system. Dendritic cell factor 1 (Dcf1) was first discovered to exhibit high expression level in neural stem cells (NSCs) by our lab (Wen et al., 2002). Downregulation of Dcf1 increases the differentiation of NSCs into neurons and astrocytes (Wang et al., 2008), and Dcf1 deficiency leads to social interaction defects through the dopamine system (Liu et al., 2017).
Dcf1 regulates neuropeptide expression and maintains energy balance
2017, Neuroscience LettersCitation Excerpt :Dendritic cell factor 1 (Dcf1) is a single transmembrane protein that is abundantly expressed in the nervous system. In our previous study, we found that Dcf1 is involved in neural stem cell differentiation [25]; therefore, we constructed a Dcf1 KO mouse to explore its impact on neural development. We observed a significant decrease in the dendritic spine density, spine head size, dendritic arborization, and postsynaptic density length in hippocampal synapses of Dcf1−/− mice [11].
Dopamine and dopamine receptor D1 associated with decreased social interaction
2017, Behavioural Brain ResearchCitation Excerpt :Deficits in social interaction are the most recognizable manifestation of autistic behaviours [9]. We have previously shown high expression of Dcf1 (dendritic cell factor 1, also known as TMEM59) in neural stem cells (NSCs) [10]. Dcf1 is a protein consisting of 323 amino acids including an N-terminal signal sequence, a mitochondrial targeting sequential motif, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic tail.
