2015, Ultrasound in Medicine and BiologyCitation Excerpt :Ultrasonography is characterized by its high sensitivity (greater than 90%), but also its lower specificity (Balu-Maestro et al. 2011), which varies from 31% to 96.8% (Berg et al. 2012; Buchberger et al. 2000; Kolb et al. 2002; Leong et al. 2010; Tardivon et al. 2007). Ultrasound elastography is an emerging tool that could improve B-mode specificity (Berg et al. 2012; Burnside et al. 2007; Leong et al. 2010; Tardivon et al. 2007; Zhi et al. 2007). This new mode measures the hardness of a tissue.
