    Citation Excerpt :

In other words, BRCA1-related tumors identified by molecular assays could have their protein detected in the cytoplasm of the malignant cells. Based on this data, one could support that our findings with regard to the cytoplasmic BRCA1 are reinforced by previous studies having shown that patients with BRCA1-mutated tumors depicted fewer lymph node metastases, tending to have fewer recurrences [5,29]. What is interesting is that the opposite prognostic value of nuclear and cytoplasmic BRCA1 was preserved and even intensified within the subgroups of ER and PR(+) as well as ER(+)/cerbB2(−) tumors.
