2008, Thoracic Surgery ClinicsCitation Excerpt :All patients were discharged in good condition and returned to preoperative levels of physical activity within 10 days of the operation. Robotic surgery was initially developed to perform cardiac surgery: the first internal mammary artery grafting was performed in 1999 [4], and in 2000 Kapperet and coworkers [5] reported the preliminary results on 27 patients. Subsequently, the undoubted advantages of a robotic system were applied in many others disciplines, such as thoracic surgery.
