Abstract

The DuO vehicle tracking and fleet management system is presented as an example for a mobile computing application. The paper focuses on the visualization of geographical information at a control centre, on the design of the on-board unit and on the interaction and communication between the on-board units and the control centre. The technologies of GPS positioning and GSM data communication are presented as they are used within the system.
