Abstract

The first examples of a π-bound aromatic heterocyclic ring in which the hetero atom is also σ-bonded to a second metal atom have been prepared.

Arsanaphthalene reacts with [(py)3Mo(CO)3] in the presence of Et2O·BF3 to yield the η6-coordinated products 103 (R = H, SiMe3) (01OM2109).

Common and less-common coordination modes of the typical chelating and heteroaromatic ligands

Data on the different modes of bonding the metals to the most widely spread chelating [β-diketones, o-oxyazomethines, o-oxy(mercapto) derivatives of azoles and azines] and heteroaromatic ligands are generalized and systematized. It is shown that, besides the common β-diketonates, aldiminates, phenolates and mercaptophenolates structures, these complex compounds exhibit less-common modes of coordination. Five- and six-membered heterocycles form σ- as well as π-complexes.
The molecular and crystal structure of pentacarbonyl(phosphabenzene)molybdenum(0)
1985, Journal of Organometallic Chemistry
Pentacarbonyl(phosphabenzene)molybdenum(0) crystallizes in the Pbam space group with Z = 8, a 15.880(4), b 20.162(4) and c 7.971(3) Å. The crystal structure was determined and refined from 1404 independent reflections to R₁ = 0.034. The pentacarbonylmolybdenum moiety is symmetrically coordinated to the phosphorus atom of the phosphabenzene ring, which closely resembles the free ligand in geometry.
