2023, Case Studies in Construction MaterialsEffect of protogenetic alkali sulfates on the hydration and hardening of cement with different tricalcium aluminate content
2020, Construction and Building MaterialsCitation Excerpt :Sulfates introduced from coal and raw materials are inevitably occurring in clinker during Portland cement production, called as protogenetic sulfates, which distinguishes from added sulfates introduced from gypsum. Statistics show that the protogenetic sulfate content of cement clinker has increased from less than 0.5% SO3 in the 1970s to >1–2% in this century [1–3]. One of the reasons is the extensive use of the preheater and rotary kiln replacing vertical kiln, which facilitates sulfur gas recycling and remaining in the preheater and kiln [4].
Mineralogical study of high SO<inf>3</inf> clinker produced using waste gypsum board in a cement kiln
2019, Construction and Building MaterialsCitation Excerpt :Some studies predict that the concentration of SO3 in the belite remains constant in the presence of anhydrite, and these concentrations are assumed to level off at concentrations that exceed 1.5–2% for works clinker [44,60]. The other shows that the largest amount of SO3 present in the silicate phase to be 0.68% [61]. However the belite content measured by QXRD increased linearly with increasing SO3 in the clinker, which agrees with the variation in lattice parameter in the belite.
Influence of alkali sulfates in clinker on the hydration and hardening of Portland cement
2018, Construction and Building MaterialsEffect of protogenetic anhydrite on the hydration of cement under different curing temperature
2017, Construction and Building MaterialsCitation Excerpt :In this study, the anhydrous gypsum from clinker and admixture can be classified as protogenetic anhydrite, which is different from added gypsum including natural anhydrite. Generally, the types of sulphates in cement clinker is mainly alkaline sulfate and the content of protogenetic anhydrite is usually low, even some researchers think that there was no anhydrite in cement clinker produced in cement plant [6]. In contrast, the type of sulphates in admixtures (as fly ash, CFBC ash and so on) is mainly anhydrite.
