  • Familial hypercholesterolaemia: A model of care for Australasia

    2011, Atherosclerosis Supplements
    Citation Excerpt :

The role of this simple tool requires evaluation. A persuasive case for universal, as opposed to selective, screening of children for hypercholesterolaemia has been made, since deficiency in obtaining a family history of CHD and/or hypercholesterolaemia will result in children not being tested and treated for FH [62]. It has been proposed that this could be done at immunization using plasma cholesterol alone and subsequent child–parent testing where indicated [63] or by universally screening children aged 9–11 years with a standard lipid profile [64a].
