This chapter begins where Chapter 1, Innovations in mHealth, Part 1: The Role of Blockchain, Conversational Interfaces, and Chatbots, left off, reviewing more of the innovations poised to impact mobile medicine. The list includes mobile apps that can be accessed by clinicians through an electronic health record system, remote patient monitoring, and the Internet of Things. The chapter takes a closer look at BIDMC@Home, which is used by Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to communicate with patients, CareKit, the software platform provided by Apple, AliveCor’s mobile ECG, Withings blood pressure monitor, blood glucose meters that are Internet-capable, and a variety of other tools.
