Abstract

The clinical neurophysiological studies of nerve conduction testing and needle EMG are valuable techniques in the investigation of disorders of the anterior horn cell, nerve roots, brachial and lumbosacral plexuses, peripheral nerves, neuromuscular junction, and muscle. The basic neurophysiology underlying nerve conduction study and needle EMG testing are presented in this chapter along with the patterns of abnormalities encountered in focal and diffuse neurogenic disorders.
