Abstract

This article reports about the chemistry of hexanuclear rhenium cluster compounds with octahedral metal atom core. All these compounds contain octahedral metal atom units face-bridged by chalcogenido (S, Se, and Te) or mixtures of chalcogenido and halogenido (Cl, Br, and I) ligands. Each exo-site of the octahedral metal atom unit is occupied by an additional ligand for which a wide choice exists. The article is therefore divided into cluster compounds with chalcogenido ligands only, chalcohalides, chalcocyanides, and chalcoazides and compounds with P-, O-, or N-donor ligands in addition to chalcogenido ligands.
