Abstract

Major advances have been made in recent years in nondestructive testing of welded steel structures. This paper reviews the latest developments in: (i) radiographic inspection; (ii) ultrasonics; (iii) alternating current potential drop technique; (iv) measurement of residual stress, and (v) in-production weld inspection. Areas where further useful progress can be made are also identified.
