Abstract

Arguments based on flavor symmetry and charge conjugation show how cancellations occur between contributions from different hadronic intermediate states to two-step OZI-violating transition amplitudes in which each individual step is OZI allowed. Such cancellations cannot occur at masses above one and only one OZI-allowed threshold. Larger OZI violations should occur in these mass regions.
