2022, Journal of EthnopharmacologyCitation Excerpt :The properties Paraguayans attribute to Eugenia uniflora for the treatment of hypertension (Consolini et al., 1999), Sida cordifolia for vaginal discharge (Pereira-Nunes et al., 2006; Franzotti et al., 2000), Baccharis trimera for digestion problems (Barbosa et al., 2020; Aboy et al., 2012), and Dysphania ambrosioides as an anthelmintic (Bezerra et al., 2019; Grassi et al., 2013; MacDonald et al., 2004) are in line with pharmacological and phytochemical findings. Accordingly, Psidium guajava and P. guineense are considered effective antidiarrheal agents (Anesini and Pérez, 1993; Hirudkar et al., 2020). The plants with a higher number of mentions for “nervous tension” (anxiolytic), namely Citrus sinensis, Cymbopogon citratus, and Heteropterys glabra – exhibit anxiolytic and potential sedative actions.
