A framework for data communication design using a knowledge based approach

Abstract

This article addresses the problems of applying a knowledge based approach to data communication design. A prototype has been developed in order to derive a framework for the conceptual design of such systems. Problems of partitioning and formalizing the design process are discussed. The control of the system and user interface are found to be critical issues.
