Progressive surface waves on a liquid of non-uniform depth

Abstract

The propagation of harmonic progressive waves on the surface of a homogeneous liquid of non-uniform depth is considered. Particular attention is devoted to the action of the Reynolds stresses in generating a mean or time-independent component in the flow.
