The numerical study of allothermal gasification of the peat by the focused light flow
2021, Applied Thermal EngineeringGasification of lignin-rich residues for the production of biofuels via syngas fermentation: Comparison of gasification technologies
2019, FuelCitation Excerpt :Updraft fixed bed gasification, is typically operated at medium and small scale (10–15 MW), therefore is a good match with the fermentation technology and has several advantages such as high overall energy efficiency and fuel conversion, simple structure, low investment cost and easy maintenance. However, the tar compounds and other pyrolysis products are not cracked in the combustion zone, since they are carried by the gas flow to the gasifier top [20]. Thus, a very crude gas is produced with significant amounts of tar compounds, so the challenge would be to reduce the tar content to the suitable levels for the fermentation process.
Experimental study and modeling of heavy tar steam reforming
2018, Fuel Processing TechnologyCitation Excerpt :In this study, naphthalene, phenanthrene, acenaphthylene, fluoranthene and pyrene will be used as model compounds to study the steam reforming of heavy tar at high temperature (as high as 1573 K). Naphthalene represents two-ring compounds; acenaphthylene and phenanthrene represent three-ring compounds; pyrene and fluoranthene represent four-ring and higher compounds, which are the major contents in their class of heavy tars [17–21]. The effects of the reactor temperature profile, operating temperature, steam content, sample weight and residence time on the carbon conversion degree of heavy tar will be investigated in a tube reactor.

2017, FuelCitation Excerpt :As literature shows [5], a substantial amount of research on the updraft gasifier has been carried out over the last few years. VTT [6] reported commercial use of an updraft fixed bed gasifier of 4–5 MWth capacity (BIONEER) for thermal applications. The producer gas generated from gasification of wood chips of 41% moisture content consisted of 30% CO, 11% H2, 3% CH4, 7% CO2, and 49% N2 with HHV of 6.2 MJ/Nm3.
