Pulse shape discrimination and energy response of calcium tungstate crystals

Abstract

The scintillation response of calcium tungstate crystals to gamma rays, protons and alpha particles has been studied. It is shown that there is a difference in shape between gamma-ray and alpha-particle pulses, and that this effect may be exploited to discriminate between particles.
