Abstract

The magnetic susceptibilities of powdered samples of Cu(pyridine)2Cl2 and Cu(pyridine)2Br2 have been measured in the temperature range 8–297°K. The data reflect an antiferromagnetic interaction with Tmax near 18° for the chlorocomplex and near 36°K for the bromocomplex. The data are discussed in terms of the Heisenberg and Ising models of antiferromagnetic interactions in chains.
