2000, Chemical Physics LettersCitation Excerpt :Vertical ionization potentials were also reported and it was found that these ab initio theories all overestimated the excitation energies. Fülscher et al. [26], performed calculations using multi-configurational second-order perturbation theory on the lowest excited states of BD, hexatriene and octatetraene. It was found that the calculated energies of the excited states of each molecule were within ≤0.2 eV of the experimental energies measured by photoelectron spectroscopy.
