Abstract

The favourable effect of shaping the polylobed extrudate or pelleted Rashig ring catalyst particle leading to the higher values of internal diffusion effectiveness factor computed from the numerical solution of the pertinent partial differential equations was confirmed by the experimental data, measured during the gas oil hydrodesulphurization in the Berty's type autoclave at 300°C and 3 MPa using both own cobalt-molybdenum on alumina catalysts and industrial ones. The influence of calalyst particle diameter on HDS activity is also discussed.
