Plant.
Lepista nuda (Bull. ex Fr). Cooke (Tricholomataceae) collected from Uludag Mountain, Bursa, Turkey in 1995. The macrofungus has been deposited at the herbarium of the Department of Biology, Uludag University, Bursa, Turkey.
Uses in traditional medicine.
The sporophore of L. nuda contains Vit B1. Infusion of this macrofungus is used for preventing beriberi [1]. In addition, the decoction is used for the treatment of abscesses and wounds [2].
Previously isolated constituents.
Triterponoids, sterols [3] and orgonohalogens [4]
Tested material.
60% MeOH extract (yield: 42.5 g from 225 g of air-dried macrofungus). Phytochemical analysis [5] triterponoids and sterols.
Studied activity.
Antimicrobial activity by disk diffusion method [6], [7].
Used microorganisms.

Conclusions.
Four of the tested bacteria were found to be sensitive to the methanolic extract. Klebsiella pneumoniae and Salmonella thyphimurium and the fungus Candida albicans and Rhodotorula rubra are resistant to the action of the extract. The observed activities may provide a support for some of the uses in ethnomedicine.
