Methods
The SRG approach is described in detail elsewhere [10]. In brief, the approach is as follows:

Interventions are categorized by the “setting” in which they are implemented. We reviewed three settings: schools, health services, and geographically defined communities. Within each setting, interventions are then categorized according to a typology reflecting key choices that policy makers and program managers need to make regarding what they should invest in within that setting (Box 1).

Descriptions of interventions included in this review are presented in Table 1. Evaluation results are presented in Table 2.
Discussion
There were 23 studies conducted between 2005 and 2008 that met the inclusion criteria for this review. The large number of studies, reported in the span of just 4 years, reflects an increasing recognition of the importance of HIV prevention among young people, and the need to assess the effectiveness of interventions with that aim. Key findings are presented in Box 2.
