Comment
Leiomyomas are the most common type of noncancerous neoplasm in the uterine myometrium in women of reproductive age, but occasionally occur with unusual growth patterns or in extrauterine sites that make their identification more challenging. In such a case, synchronous uterine leiomyoma or a previous hysterectomy may be indicative of the diagnosis [3]. We concluded that its cardiac involvement, which was not even listed in the extrauterine leiomyomatous classification [3], can be divided into

Primary intracardiac leiomyoma arising from cardiomyocyte progenitors at the right ventriculoseptal interface: case report with literature review
2017, Cardiovascular PathologyCitation Excerpt :We lost the patient to follow-up after a few visits during the initial 6 months, when he was asymptomatic and doing well. Leiomyoma is an innocuous smooth muscle tumor most commonly described in the uterine myometrium [5]. This entity may theoretically occur at any site possessing native smooth muscle cells.
Multiple Primary Leiomyomas in the Right Ventricle: A Rare Form of Leiomyoma
2016, Annals of Thoracic SurgeryCitation Excerpt :There are only 3 female and 2 male cases reported in the English literature. The origins of the first 2 female cases [2–3] were identified as metastases, and the third female case [4] and 2 male cases [5–6] were identified as primary lesions. In adult women, if independent leiomyomas exist inside the pathway of the lower half of the venous system including the inferior vena cava, heart, pulmonary artery, and lungs, BMLs from uterine leiomyomas should be considered first.

2016, Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular SurgeryCitation Excerpt :Leiomyomas represent less than 1% of primary cardiac tumors, but they are the most common benign uterine tumor.1,2 To our knowledge, 3 case reports of primary cardiac leiomyomas exist.10-12 Cardiac metastases may present in synchrony with the primary tumor or years later.6
